Jardins secs, s´adapter au manque d´eau - Brigitte Lapouge-Déjean and Serge Lapouge- 240 pages.

The gardens of tomorrow will have to face weather conditions that are more and more capricious (periods of extreme heat and cold) and water that is more and more scarce and costly. Many regions in the world will adopt a ""dry regime"" and will have to adapt to it.
In contrast to what we hear, gardening in dry ground is both possible and attractive! In order to succeed, we simply have to adapt to gardening differently.
This book presents the most common situations and problems and their solutions through 12 examples of gardens that do not appear to be lacking in water, but instead look happy and prosperous. The majority of these gardens are open to the public and have received Remarkable Garden awards. Some have even received a coveted AJJH prize!
The gardeners in these 12 gardens share their experience with the reader. Whether an ornamental garden, a vegetable garden, an orchard or a lawn they have found solutions to everything! Sometimes inspired by tradition, sometimes totally innovative, they often lead to mininal watering solutions. Improving poor, stony soil, protection from sun and wind, lasagna beds, recovering rain water, resisting sea spray and salt, replacing a lawn with plants that cover the ground.. there are as many situations as there are responses to them.
For each garden, after presenting the problems and outlining the solutions, the authors offer a very useful tool: the ""gardener´s palette"". For each case, this is a selection of suitable plants that will delight any gardeners facing a similar situation.

The authors:
Brigitte Lapouge-Déjean is an organic gardener and the author of a number of books about ornamental gardens. She regularly writes for the magazine ""Les 4 saisons du jardinage"".
Serge Lapouge is a landscape gardener who is passionate and natural designs and layouts. He also takes very nice photographs.
Together they have created Les Jardins de l´Albarède, a garden open to the public in Dordogne. This garden received the ""Coup de cœur"" prize in 2012 from the Association of Garden and Horticultural Journalists (AJJH) for its innovative and organic nature.
